To my many friends whu got into CSC 4th MC:

My heartfelt congratulations to u! To be chosen for such a respnsibility shows of all the trust and expectations that all CSC has put upon u. And I personally admire all of u for the courage u have to take up such a heavy responsibility... A SALUTE to u all!

Kailoon: Man i muz say ure de pride n joy of Yishuners! didn expect tt one fine day ud say "Its final. Im running for csc prez", much less tt u will clinch de position... remember to come for yishun regularly to guide us along even with ur heavy commitments hor! we nid u!

fWed: Yo brudder! Ure de MAN! Ure de very epitome of courage yea! n so much drive too, even till de extent tt u fall sick, ure still fighting on! Just dun keep saying die... its kinda depressing sometimes haha... keep positive! N if u nid help or advice, im alwaes thr! dun EVER let ur fighting spirit die off!

Chloe!!!!!!: I muz confess... all along i had rooted for bryan to run n clinch vpsp... n didn even remember u... ooh stupid me... aft tt when i found out tt ure running for vpsp, i was thinking ure shoo-in, no point for anyone to even think of competing hahaz... uve showed ure POWER, be it in csc, jam x or camp! ure my role model yea!

Meitoon: well, i think ure right. all of us r in csc to serve, and no matter wad position u get in de MC, or even no position at all, we all have a part to play in csc... thou it may seem a pity u didn get de position u really wan, any other responsibilities r still a chance to serve and a learning experience for urself. So do ur best in ur new post yea!

Thrs still so manee ppl i noe now in de MC, like Crystal, Joo, Alex, Engkhoon, Zhenqin, Kianmeng, Lixian, Michelle... but really unable to write a paragraph for ALL of u... paiseh la... dun want dis to be another reading which u all will bore to sleep at haha...

Now, 1 post left... n with already a number of ppl eyeing for it... i onie got to say one thing... may de best one wins... and also, hopefully whuever runs for welfare director will really want, at the bottom of their hearts, to serve CSC... experience or not isnt really important, but wad matters is whether u want to serve the club, n to keep volunteer welfare still at a very high level...

So Mervyn has not found a successor yet haa... whu ask u to do such a GREAT job last yr??? now scare off all potential candidates liao haha...

Joy is taking, or giving?

Well, have u ever wondered which will make u happier? Giving, or receiving?

This has been a dilemma I think most, if not all, of u will have... I believe more in giving, thou not absolutely... cos I think everyone has at least a bit of selfishness... humans r born imperfect...

Thing is, taking is easy... all u nid to do is stretch out your hands, n ask... while giving, demands sacrifice... at least a little... so how much r u willing to give, n for wad reason?

Want to be selfless, but sometimes I simply cant find the reason... Anyone can guide me? Teach me? Help me?

Well pplz, if u find the above simply incoherent... they r just my random thots... just thinking...

Yah this is quite a stale issue... has been days since CORS bidding ended but y do i have to crap on it? Well, u may be surprised tt ppl r still harping on it... so i my as well put in my share of the pie...

Dis yr has been particularly bad for bidding... 1st, the ABNORMALLY HIGH traffic not seen in previous years; and 2nd, server crashes... Such an event has brought about frustrations from students all across NUS, in wadever faculties or schools... Some went on to put the blame on the system and the CORS task force --> "Yes its all CORS fault!... Down with CORS!... CORS is corruption!... CORS is poisonous!... CORS is Satanic!..." Rite... But has anyone or anywho has thought deeply about it and realise that u might have been part of the increasing entropy of de system? (Yah cheem cheem stuff here... for those whu dunno... entropy is a measure of randomness or irregularity...)

Till now, 2 good weeks after tutorial balloting, ppl r still heating up the forums on HOOKED, directly sending the flame onto CORS... hey, theres no point in anymore "arrow pushing" now, wads the use of BBQ-ing the CORS system? u cant eat CORS rite? we all had a part to play in it and we do have lots to learn from it... the task force shd be reviewing the problems to improve the system in future sems, and we shd be evaluating ourselves to check wad n wad not to do in future bidding n balloting rounds...

Many many replies in thr still saddens me... makes me wonder r we as young adults able to evaluate maturely b4 making any rational judgements...

irrational behaviour of students? more like incompetence n inefficiency of the cors team
--> so u see wad i m saying?

it is inevitable to have students sharing the same free time and thus logging in at the same time i feel. How about students who do not have free day time on the day of balloting? they have to sit in the lecture halls with their mind worrying if they could get their timeslots. i think NUS should be prepared for such situations to arise. its a world class university afterall!
--> personally i m one of those worrying in classes... so much so tt i had my lappie with me trying to login during TUTORIALS! well, cant blame anyone... just tt its unlucky tt server had to break down then... also, wolrd class university may have some glitches here n thr... no man is infallible...

If NUS really rents expensive machine that are meant to cope with humogous server loads and yet cannot handle the simulataneous log ins, clearly they are not doing enough
--> well tts very very high expectations... being in the CORS task force muz have been very stressful... esp when students can get so cranky...

dun tell me that server cannot take it.. admin noes that there will be a rush, it's human nature, can't stop..n i'm curious about the "high-end servers", if those are the best in sg, we really have something to worry about..
--> well, even the best arent omnipotent... we can expect lots out of them, but if they cant take it, they cant take it... wad more can we say?

Well, I feel that one option of solving the problem is to do away with the bidding system. Not all universities do that, and they cope quite well so far. I would prefer balloting for the modules than bidding for them.
--> how bout standing outside some deans office for hours in order to secure de core modules u HAVE to take but not given to u? sounds fun rite? NOOOOO!!!!!!

finally theres dis penned my urs truly... haha makes me feel like a saint...

I believe everyone has a part to play in this fiasco. It may be true that the servers were inadequate to meet the "rush hour" needs during bidding and balloting, which should not have been the case after a few years of CORS. But well, we still should give them a break and not vent our frustrations unnecessarily. It does not solve problems. We also have a part to play too. Hogging while connected, repeated logging in and out... all these are but our faults and we have to acknowledge rather than conveniently push them aside.

I myself had been frantically attempting to log in when I couldn't, not realising I was myself an additional burden. Now that I learnt this I will try my best not to do this again next time.

I believe that this event has been a learning process for everyone, be it the CORS task force or the students themselves. Give CORS time to improve. I believe it will be better in subsequent semesters. It may be that doing away with CORS completely is an option, but I seriously don't want to end up queueing outside some office for my modules!

With tt, I do hope all these issues will end once n for all... with those areas in nid of improvement done swiftly... for a better CORS nxt time!

Well i remember those days back in army when i would buy a CD or 2 a month for mi listening purposes... Well, that seems reasonable cos serving de country was a rather carefree period of my life, at least compared to wadever i have now... Prob is, i dun listen to all the CDs i bought and may once in a while miss out some songs which r supposed to be very very nice...

Wad spurred me to pin this post up is that song which has been causing a 'stir' all over singapore... For pplz whu watch Project Superstar, especially fans of Derrick Hoh, u shd noe de song "Hen Xiang Ni" sung by Z Chen. Yah... its a REALLY NICE SONG!!! Fell in love wif it when i saw Derrick sing in his revival round. Could say it was his best performance ever in Project Superstar... Well im digressing...

I started to look high n low for this song, thinking of logging on to Limewire to download it... but stupid NUSnet got dis irritating firewall that disallowed anything to be transferred... grr... even went to the point of wanting to buy the CD that has this song...

Today i went home, settled down, did wadever i had to do, den just took a look around the house (yea its great to be home again haha...) I saw my stack of old CDs in that corner n took them out to browse thru... saw that CD by Z Chen, "Listen to Me"... Guessed wad i saw on the back of the cover...

Numbered Track 6 was actually the song i was looking for!!! To think i had that song all along!!! Just tt i didn bother to really listen to the CD after buying it... such a waste! Ended up playing that song on my CD player on repeat mode... it's still playing now!!! haha...

My my, i really need to go back to my CDs to listen to them... Who noes, i might have left out some really nice songs now still in tt lonely corner collecting dust! Think i shall do it when im free... yea...

A brand new start... after my previous blog crashed for i dunno wad reason... culd be template problem, blogger problem, or MY problem... But wadever, main thing is, i tried ways n methods to revive it, consulted so many 'gurus' n still cant...

Yah, makes me think abt de scene in front of the Operating Theatre, where the doctor walks solemnly out, to a group of anxious faces, shakes head, says, "Sorry, I've done my best..." Den we see a big crying scene...

Only now, it seems tt im de anxious faces, my guru-tic frens being de doctor, n de one lying in de Operating Theatre is my precious blog! Took me a long while to actually come to terms that my poor blog is dead... Really saddening...

Ok, now de mourning period's over and its high time to create a new blog... So todays de day of de birth of u new bloggie... right on my 22nd birthday too! Haha hopez tt u'll last longer, i mean, MUCH MUCH longer than ur predecessor...
